How is SocialBee different from Planable?

Both SocialBee and Planable are apps you can use to plan the content you want to share.

Planable is great for teamwork because it gives you the option to add members that can then be responsible for different tasks (approving posts, commenting, reviewing etc). It might seem a bit more user-friendly at first but that’s just because it’s way less complex when you put it side by side with SocialBee.

SocialBee will save you a lot of time through category-based posting and post recycling.

That being said, we’re pretty awesome (granted, we might be a bit biased), here’s why:

Evergreen Posting

Planable content options are varied but don’t go in depth when it comes to recycling posts.

You can post text, image or even video. It’s nice that you can organize your posts by different themes and subjects but you still have to constantly go back and schedule new stuff.

SocialBee is a lot more powerful when it comes to evergreen or shared-once content because you have so many options. You can create content that’s evergreen, content that only goes out once and content that expires at a specific time or after it was shared for a scheduled number of times. Or even indefinitely.

SocialBee gives you a lot of control over posting times and separating your content based on campaigns, promotions, RSS blogs, images and so on.

Create your own Schedule or use Best Practices

Planable’s version of content categories is called “labels” which you can create any time with a designed name and color for that label, and organize your posts as you create them or by selecting your label first.

With SocialBee, you can create different categories and then think of a schedule around those categories. To name a few of these: you can have your own blog to share articles from, you can import articles from RSS from people you follow or look up to, you can create a promotional category where you’d only add promotional posts that are used to speak and let people know about your business.

Each one of these categories can be set up as evergreen (where the content is recycled) or ‘share once’ (where your content goes out once and then poof!).

Planable doesn’t offer you the option to automatically recycle evergreen content, but you do have the option to repost something you already shared.

As for the schedule, with SocialBee you can either choose the default schedule which is the one we keep updated to the best social media practices, or you can schedule posting days and hours to your liking.

Planable offers you a calendar view to schedule your posts, but no list view (SocialBee has both). However a nice touch for this app is that it offers you a feed view, which means you can see a preview of what your scheduled post will look like on your social media profile feed of your choice. This is also something we have on our roadmap and we’ll have live soon.

Powerful RSS and Pocket Configuration

As opposed to Planable, SocialBee allows you to import RSS feeds or CSV Files to fill up your queue faster. But you can do so much more! Using our platform, you can add RSS feeds directly into your categories, Import links or CSV files, use your Pocket account to share different tags to multiple content categories and you can also choose to post each of these imports only once or Evergreen.

So Should I use Planable or SocialBee?

Planable might be right for you if

  • You’re looking for a simple platform for content posting
  • You like scheduling and choosing all your content yourself
  • You need to collaborate with others and get approvals on your posts (eg from a customer)

SocialBee might be right for you if

  • You want to automate your posts more and save time to deal with the really important stuff
  • You want to be able to categorize and recycle your content

Having the content categories, and being able to recycle content makes it possible to post more often, even if you don’t have a VA or you’re not working on it full time.
